In summer June 2016, Mont Tremblant will once again be transformed by the presence of some of the finest athletes in the world. Nearly 4,000 of these highly-trained individuals will gather from June 23 until June 26 at Mont Tremblant for an Ironman Weekend.
A full slate of events is scheduled, including the Subaru Ironman 5150 and the Subaru Ironman 70.3 Mont Tremblant.
Mont Tremblant Ironman 2016: The Basics
Mont Tremblant is known for being Canada’s playground. The region is home to all manner of outdoor sports and adventures. The first thing that many people think of when they hear the name Mont Tremblant is the unsurpassed skiing that is available in the area.
However, the region is also known for its cycling, hiking, golfing and kayaking, making it an ideal location for a challenging event such as the Ironman triathlon. With its ease of walkability, Mont Tremblant and the communities that surround it make it easy to enjoy the event and all of its related activities.
Mont Tremblant Ironman 2016 Subaru Ironman 70.3 Race Route
- a 1.2-mile swim within Mont Tremblant, followed by a 56-mile bike race that is one loop around Mont Tremblant’s mountains. The next — and final leg — of the race is the 13.1-mile long running course that has its conclusion within the heart of Mont Tremblant’s pedestrian city.
This race offers 30 qualifying slots for the 2016 Ironman 70.3 World Championship. For 2016, this championship will take place in the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia.
Mont Tremblant Ironman 2016 Subaru Ironman
The race will start with a 2.4-mile (3.8-km) swim in Lac Tremblant. The run to T1 is a quarter-mile long and lined with a soft carpet of red. Lots of fans will be along the route to cheer the participants on.
The 112-mile (180-km) bike course comprises two loops and courses through the low-lying mountains and forests of Mont Tremblant. This provides participants with challenging terrain and elevations. It also allows spectators to take advantage of some prime locations from which to view the ongoing action.
The 26.2-mile (42.2-km) run course is designed to take full advantage of the Le P’tit Train du Nord. This famous landmark — Canada’s longest linear park — was developed from a former railway bed. Once outfitted with crushed gravel, the course has been paved for the Mont Tremblant Ironman. During this run, participants will see lots of enthusiastic spectators line the course as it takes you into the midst of the Mont Tremblant’s pedestrian village. You will also be treated to the sight of a scenic waterfall located alongside Lac Tremblant.
During this race, participants will enjoy water that is an average of 18 degree Celsius (64 F). The highest gradient on the course is 8 percent and is located at km 18. The Mont Tremblant Ironman provides 40 qualifying slots for Hawaii’s 2016 Ironman World Championships.
Registering for the Event
Tier 2 registration opened up on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 and will remain open until Saturday, May 28, 2016. Its entry fee is $764.60 CAD.
Tier 3 registration opens on Sunday, May 29, 2016 and will remain open until further stated. Registration for that Tier is $810.60 CAD. It is important to note that those who register for the Mont Tremblant Ironman 2016 after July 5, 2016 will not have race materials that are personalized.
All athletes who want to participate in the Mont Tremblant Ironman 2016 must be at least 18 years of age.
